In October 2022, I was honored to take part in the Global Joy Summit. The summit was inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu's practical and often humorous teachings on how we can live with more joy, even in deeply troubled times.
I had the chance to interview two people whose work in the world fills me with delight: the poet Ross Gay, author of The Book of Delights and Inciting Joy, and the writer and facilitator Adrienne Maree Brown, author of Emergent Strategy and Pleasure Activism. Their work insists that joy and justice belong together, and that delight is not a retreat from the struggle but a way of sustaining it.
